LankaSolve exists to be a single, trustworthy place to answer real questions about life in Sri Lanka: government processes, taxes and VAT, land and property, public services, and everyday personal finance. The information behind these questions does exist, but it's scattered across sources of wildly different quality, and rarely written for someone who just needs a straight answer.
We build every guide and calculator the same way: start with the actual authoritative source (a government department, an official gazette, a statutory instrument), read it directly, and write down exactly what it says, in plain, usable language, dated so you know it's current. The aim is for LankaSolve to grow into the place Sri Lankans default to for this kind of question, one verified topic at a time.
How We Keep Things Accurate
Every fee, deadline, rate, and requirement on LankaSolve is checked against an official source and dated when it was last verified. Facts that change often, like fees and tax rates, get rechecked on a schedule. Facts that are stable, like unit conversions and statutory formulas, don't need rechecking as often, but they're still sourced the same way from the start.
Where something can't be confirmed against an official source, we say so directly rather than presenting a guess as fact. You'll sometimes see figures marked as "reported" rather than officially confirmed, when the best available source is a credible secondary report rather than a government publication. That distinction is intentional.
Every source behind every fee and figure on this site is listed on the Verified Sources page: the authority, the document, and the date it was last checked.
Who's Behind This
LankaSolve is built and maintained by Afdhel Munaj. It's a solo project, kept up to date with the help of AI tools, with no team, no editorial desk, and no outside funding behind it. The "What to Expect" pages alongside some of the guides are genuinely my own experience going through these processes.
What LankaSolve Is Not
LankaSolve is an independent, privately run informational service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Government of Sri Lanka or any government department, ministry, or agency referenced on this site. Where an official government portal or office is the right place to actually complete a process, LankaSolve links to it directly.
